I was assigned appetizers for the holiday meal and wanted to bring something Delicious, Plant-and-Herb-based, Easy, and Organic. Here's what I'm making.
Seed Crackers I found a brand of these in the local bodega and have been obsessed with them but let's face it, it's the holiday and everything is better when it's homemade.
Ingredients: (feel free to mix and match the proportions of seeds depending on what you have in your cabinet.)
1 cup flax seeds - we carry these in the store.
1 cup pumpkin seeds
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
1 cup sesame seeds
1/3 cup poppy seeds
1 tsp sea salt
2 cups warm water
Combine in a bowl with water. Let sit 30 minutes. Roll out onto a lined baking sheet. Score the mixture with a knife into the desired shape or form into a round cracker.
Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes. Keep an eye on them, when the edges are brown, they're done.
Herb and Garlic Cream Cheese Dip I'm using Organic Herbs from our shop.
Ingredients: Go Organic, your microbiome will thank you.
1 package of Organic Cream Cheese - it exists :))
1 stick of Irish Butter - trust me on this one... Kerry Gold. In Ireland, they say, "What you call Organic, we call Food."
4-6 gloves of garlic (you decide how much is enough)
1 teaspoon Rosemary
1 teaspoon Thyme
1 teaspoon Oregano
1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper
Soften the butter and cream cheese. Lightly grind the herbs in a coffee grinder or mortise and tenon. Mince the garlic. Add all the ingredients to a mixer and viola!!! Done.
I'll be showing up with this along with a selection of cheeses. Let me know how it turns out if you make it.
Happy Holidays! We've all talked about how stressful the holidays can be in the shop. Remember you have Herbal Allies: Our Organic CBD oil, Passionflower tincture, Ashwagandha tincture, or any of our Reishi Tinctures are my go-to for Organic, Plant-Based, non-habit-forming, coping mechanisms that help heal the body on other levels as well.
As my Holiday gift to you, use the code YUM for 10% off your next order. Offer good through Dec 23rd.
